The initiation phase includes understanding the user requirements, scoping
the project, planning for the project resources, budgeting and scheduling.
This forms the basis of the entire project and a source against which
progress will be measured.
Design is the phase where SOWs are finalized and counter-signed by both the
parties. The project lead works intensively with the client to understand
the requirements of the project, the desired solution and the architecture
or process to be followed for development.
This is the phase where actual project is carried out. On a regular basis,
the project plan is revisited in order to ensure timelines are met and
within budget. This also helps to escalate any issues with the concerned
parties.
Before the final product is delivered to the client, the project lead tests
the product to ensure that it meets the requirements and standards. During
the development phase, quality management is employed to ensure the quality
of both the project and product.
Sometimes, risks outside the scope of the project present themselves, which
may have been overlooked during the development, testing ensures that these do
not interfere with the promised functioning of the product.
Commission is the actual deployment of the product at the client site. It
is the final phase of the project. During the project execution, the project
manager monitors the project at regular intervals especially when milestones
are reached. This ensures the commissioning of the project is on time and
within budget.
